RESQMÉ STUDIO — Craft

Why fabric
is everything
— and what makes
ours different.

Sydney, Australia

"Not all swimwear fabric is created equal. The material closest to your skin shapes how a piece performs, feels, and holds up over years of use."

Why fabric quality matters

Swimwear is one of the few garments worn in genuinely extreme conditions — salt water, chlorine, UV exposure, repeated stretching — often for hours at a time. The quality of the base fabric determines everything: how long a piece holds its shape, retains its colour, and maintains its fit.

Most swimwear is made from standard polyester or low-grade nylon blends. These materials degrade quickly under sustained stress — fading, pilling, losing elasticity. Premium Italian-milled fabric behaves differently. It is engineered specifically for performance in water, with a construction that holds up wash after wash, season after season.

"The fabric closest to your skin should be worth the same consideration you give to everything else. We don't compromise on material — and it shows."

What sets premium fabric apart

The differences are measurable. Premium Italian fabric offers superior resistance to chlorine and UV degradation — meaning colour stays true and elastic stays firm over hundreds of uses. The hand-feel is smoother and more consistent. The fit holds its precision rather than relaxing and distorting after the first few wears.

These are not abstract claims. They are the result of how the fabric is constructed — the yarn quality, the knit density, the finishing process. Fabric milled to the highest Italian standard performs at a level that lower-grade alternatives simply cannot match.

Why RESQMÉ STUDIO uses Italian fabric

Every RESQMÉ collection is produced using premium Italian-milled fabric. The decision comes down to performance: exceptional resistance to chlorine and UV, a smooth hand-feel that holds its structure, and colour retention that outlasts standard alternatives.

Our fabrics undergo rigorous physical and visual assessment before production. We design collections a year in advance, which means the pieces are made to last well beyond a single season. The material has to match that standard.

"We design a year in advance. The fabric has to be built for the long term — not just the season."

ECONYL® — our recycled nylon option

Select RESQMÉ collections are produced using ECONYL® — a regenerated nylon yarn made entirely from pre- and post-industrial waste: discarded fishing nets recovered from oceans, textile offcuts that would otherwise end up in landfill.

ECONYL® is chemically identical to virgin nylon, but produced without extracting new raw materials. It can be recycled and remade indefinitely without any loss in quality. Where we use it, it is noted on the individual product page.

It is one part of a broader commitment to using fabric that is built to last — because the most sustainable garment is one you never have to replace.

What this means for you

A RESQMÉ piece will hold its shape after a hundred swims. The waistband won't stretch out. The colour won't fade to a washed-out version of itself after a summer in the sun. The fit on day one is the fit on day hundred.

RESQMÉ STUDIO is worn by men across Australia, the United States, Europe, and Asia — from Sydney and Miami to Mykonos, Tokyo, Hong Kong, and Taiwan. In every climate, in every body of water, the fabric performs the same way: exactly as it should.

That's the difference quality fabric makes — and it's why we won't compromise on it.
